This means that they should be trained for the specific type of exception that their company faces and the situation it is dealing with. For example, if an exception occurs in a customer service situation, they must know how to handle the situation properly, but if an exception occurs in a technical support situation, they must also be aware of the technical problems that may arise from the problem.

They allow a company to choose how they want to deal with a situation rather than just doing everything according to a set standard. As the old saying goes, you get what you ask for. However, if a company does not follow the same process, they may be left open to the potential risks of overlooking a specific exception that might arise.

Another potential drawback to management by exception management is that the process is sometimes difficult for employees. Sometimes employees will feel as if they are in the dark about what is going on in their department and what exactly is required of them.

Because of this, some companies may not have a clear understanding of how to handle a situation when it arises and how to deal with it. However, this problem is easily overcome if a company puts their emphasis on training employees and their processes and strategies. If a company puts too much focus on rules and regulations and on their processes, then it could leave employees feeling like they are unable to influence things.
